Petrotech Society is a non-profit organization registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. It was founded by distinguished members representing the entire spectrum of the hydrocarbon industry. The Governing Council of the society is well represented by the multinational, private sector and major public sector oil companies. The society functions within the ambit of Memorandum of Association and its Bye-laws.

Objectives of the society

• To provide a forum for National and International experts in the oil and gas industry to exchange views and share their knowledge, expertise and experiences
• To identify and explore new areas for cooperation and technology transfer relating to the petroleum industry
• To find ways to assimilate and harness the petroleum resources of the world for the benefit of mankind
• To meet challenges of energy requirements and maximise hydrocarbon resources for the energy sector
• To organize programmes at National and International levels in India and abroad and keep up with the latest developments in the field, worldover
• To explore areas of growth in petroleum technology exploration, drilling, production and processing, refining, pipeline, transportation, petrochemicals, natural gas, LNG, petroleum trade, economics, legal human resource development, marketing, research and development, information technology, safety, health and environment management in the oil and gas sector, and to make a joint effort, wherever required, to provide input to global development and prosperity
• To develop trained, experienced and motivated manpower for dynamic growth and exploration of oil and gas and its further processing into downstream areas
• To identify ways for adopting the modern technologies as well as to apply knowledge of relevant contemporary technologies to meet the challenges facing the oil and gas industry around the world
• To draw themes for investment climate in the Indian Petroleum Sector and International cooperation including Joint Ventures
• To compile information with regard to relevant policies, legislations, rules and publish books, magazines, papers, pamphlets, brochures, newsletters or other similar literature and disseminate information in the field of petroleum and gas, and to establish maintain electronic libraries, reading rooms etc
• To provide a platform for scientists, technologists, planners and policy makers, management experts and entrepreneurs and to solicit their views in order to catalyze a realization for substantial global energy security
• To promote research in upstream and downstream areas of the industry
• To take over any existing setup under the name of Petrotech Society together with all the assets and liabilities to promote the activities of the Society
• To cooperate with other societies, institutions and organizations, national or international, in the pursuit of all or any of the above objectives
